Hey guys, looking at the last couple of messages it looks like things could be going a little better - Let us know when you have sorted out the plane ticket and what your plans are. For all of those reading this who are base in Ware, Serena is holding a quiz night at Waggers on Friday 20th of April. I'll be quiz master, so it certainly will be open to corruption.... ;D Proceeds will go to Brooke Hospital for Animals, which help the Indian communities become self sufficient by correctly treating and utilising animals. Here is her blog page for those that are interested - serenatreksindia.blogspot.com/Please get in touch if you are interested in getting a quiz team together or fancy joining an existing team. (Either mail me or respond here) Paulie/James - do you think you could fly back for one night only? We have a film round just for you Paul! There is a music round just so we can all beat Owen too

Errrmmm, it's sort of sorted - I'm going to Argentina instead! The plane tickets just couldn't be bought for any reasonable price and had just raised to over £900!!! Instead I've managed to buy a flight to Buenos Aires for Sunday and then onto Cuzco in Peru on 21/4 for the Machu Piichu trek. All this cost £400 instead. Not sure what will happen about the lessons I've already paid for in Columbia. Hopefully I can put these back until next year when I can return. I really wanted to go to COlumbia, but alas it's not gonna happen this time. Just a little frustrating really. I was a little down in the dumps the other day, but now at least I've got some idea of what I'm doing I'm feeling much better. Doubt I'll be able to make the end of the month I'm afraid - it would probably cost a £1m to buy the d**ned ticket (and even then they'd only take Bazilian credit cards, never cash). Anyway, I'm sure it'll be fun for all

My god, since when has it been so difficult to spend money? Or are they only happy stealing it!
What lessons have you booked up in Columbia?
Diego Maradonna is in hospital at the mo in Buenos - if he snuffs it, it might be an interesting time to visit...

Actually, the only money I have had stolen was in the hostel in Rio, and everyone else I have met has been honest. Sure, James had lots of money stolen from his account, but that was a big game operation, so I don't think it made any dfference that it was in Brazil. Just don't go to the beach at night, or wander around looking like a lost tourist. Spnding money is fine at most places, but not for plane tickets, but fortunately Marluce, the lady I am staying with in Olinda, introduced me to her travel agent friend (the most gorgeous 38 year old I've ever met by the way!) who bought the ticket and I paid her in cash. Just annoying really. Already bought my flight to Cuzco, so after that I think it will be buses all the way. I booked up Spanish lessons in Cartagena (on the Caribean coast), but I've been able to put them off anything up to a year - I only have to advise 2 weeks in advance of when I arrive. I want to go there, and of course I want to return to Brazil. I had forgotten about old fat head in hospital - it may be nice of me to pay him a visit! Not sure what I'll be up to in Buenos Aires, but it should be fun, and if not I'm off to Peru for Machu Piichu soon after. After that there is a few more treks I want to make, so hopefully I'll be fit as the proverbial butcher's canine by the time I get back (and lose some of this extra weight I'm carrying from mountains of Barzilian cuisine). Keep it real dude, and let me know how the quiz night goes.

Sure will mate, there looks like being a host of teams from our friend group - Owen and his football team mates, Ella and her ravens (?), Andrew and Vicky with families, Helen and her fella Steve. Looks like it might be a big night. Starting to get slightly worried about hosting it now with all these people - was going to put on a persona to avoid the nerves, but the only one I could think of was Lily Savage...... and no, I am not doing that.

How about "Sonny-Boy" Malinga from the radio show we made in school? I think you should just make it as smarmy as possible, get a fake orange sun-tan and a chest wig and medallion. Bit like your porn party in fact!

Hi dude, Thought I would give you an update after the quiz. It was a great turn out with over 40 people turning up to pit their wits against each other. Owen and Liz had a team (teaming up with Penfold), Ella and Jon hooked up with her parents, Andrew and Vicki brought along their family, Helen and Steve brought some Hertford friends, Cristina and Wes brought three teams (including your sister Katherine). Kelly and Kay joined in with Ella's team as well. We saw a lot of old friends and was a great night. I think Serena took £380 for the charity, she was very chuffed with the results. Out of the hundred questions, the winning team got 82, your sisters team got 46 I think, finishing third from bottom The question on your lips will be - Did Owen win? - No! Did Owen's team finish in the top three - No! Did Ella beat Owen? Yes! Although I think you may have been required for the film round by most teams, not many scored well on that round - maybe I will post the questions up here for you to give them a go! The team with the best name was Saving Private Donkey (Ella's team) whom came second over all. The third place went to Andrew's team, called Jenny's Geriatric Gigolos. The winners were a team of Serena's uncle's friends. Nobody knew who they were - I think they were pub quiz ringers - they were just too good near the end! We might be hosting another one later in the year - if so then maybe you will be around to join in the fun and games. - oh, I think my parents have disowned me - one question they almost got right but I refused them the point and my dad got in a huff with me. Maybe those others who read this and were there can give their opinions on their performances? (Shoddy if you ask me, I thought the questions were easy..)

Sounds like you all had fun, and that charidee was the winner. Send me those photos by email or sommat, I'll see what I can do to beat those pub quiz vets - restore some pride for the youfs. Nice to see your dad isn't overreacting and behaving like an adult! Just looked at Serena's page - I take it she will post a blog of the action from the quiz. I didn't realise that the charidee was for horses'n'stuff; she'll be pleased to know that I've been horseriding twice on this trip and loved it (shame it's so d**ned expensive in the UK). She'll also be pleased to know that all the horses James and I rode were well kept and happy horses. ;D Some of the horses, particularly in Brazil, were not so fortunate though...
